Getting WFLYPAT0046: Cannot copy files to temporary directory /tmp/jboss-as-patch: error in opening zip when applying patch to JBoss EAP 7

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Trying to perform patching for our environments from current JBoss EAP 7.0.4 to 7.0.9 but when I try to perform the patching I get the following error:
{"host-failure-descriptions" => {"xxx" => "WFLYPAT0046: Cannot copy files to temporary directory /tmp/jboss-as-patch-: error in opening zip file. Note that '-Djava.io.tmpdir' switch can be used to set different temporary directory."}}
  • Trying to apply a patch for JBoss EAP 7.0.0 I see the error message which says "The patch does not contain metadata for currently installed JBOSS EAP Version 7.0.9 GA" and if I upload another file it says
"WFLYPAT0046: Cannot copy files to temporary directory /tmp/jboss-as-patch: error in opening zip file. Note that '-Djava.io.tmpdir' switch can be used to set different temporary directory."

Trying to how the guide but no success.

  • I am using the management console to patch our server and am getting the following error message:
{"host-failure-descriptions" => {"master" => "WFLYPAT0046: Cannot copy files to temporary directory C:\\Path\\To\\JBoss\\Temp\\jboss-as-patch: error in opening zip file. Note that '-Djava.io.tmpdir' switch can be used to set different temporary directory."}}
