Why was exim removed from Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

exim has been removed from Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.  The decision was made by Product Management and Engineering to only include two MTAs (Mail Transfer Agents) in RHEL 6.  Postfix is the most popular MTA followed by Sendmail for those with fine-tuning needs or legacy needs; exim is in a distant third place thus it was removed.

If there are volunteers to maintain it, exim would be a good candidate for EPEL (Extra Packages for Enterprise Linux).
