Red Hat Smart Card Manager / ESC "netkey is undefined" errors with Firefox version 17

Issue

ESC esc-1.1.0-25.el6_4.1 may fail to start with several errors and not detect smart cards after updating RHEL 6.4z with errata RHBA-2013:0735
