RHV Manager upgrade from 4.1 to 4.2 fails due to package conflict

Environment

Issue

  • Red Hat Virtualization Manager upgrade fails while upgrading from 4.1 to 4.2 with ERROR:

    Error: rhvm-setup-plugins conflicts with ovirt-engine-4.1.8.2-0.1.el7.noarch
    

Resolution

  1. Upgrade to the latest minor Red Hat Virtualization Manager version 4.1.x and then upgrade to Red Hat Virtualization Manager version 4.2.
  2. Disable 4.2 repositories and re-enable 4.1 repositories. Do the minor upgrade and run engine-setup.
  3. Once the environment is upgraded to the latest available 4.1.x, then enable 4.2 repositories and upgrade to 4.2.

Root Cause

  • Red Hat Virtualization Manager should be upgraded to the latest minor release before upgrading to the next version release.

 You could try running: rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest
