What command or process can I use to completely shut down all of the gluster services?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

When shutting down gluster via either of the following commands ...

# systemctl stop glusterd

- or -

# service glusterd stop

... some processes related to gluster continue to run, including glusterfs and glusterfsd. This can cause a brief period where one or more gluster volumes become unresponsive.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.x
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.x
  • Red Hat gluster Storage 3.x
