RHEL 7.5 fails to boot with EMC PowerPath `emcp` module

Issue

  • After updating the kernel package to 3.10.0-862.el7.x86_64, the system is not coming up.
  • The system is being dropped to the emergency mode after updating the kernel to 3.10.0-862.el7.x86_64.
  • Server fails to boot with emcp kernel module errors.

  • kernel-3.10.0-862.el7.x86_64
  • EMCpower.LINUX-6.3.0.01.00-001.el7.x86_64
