LVM resource group(s) not starting in pcs cluster after kernel upgrade

Issue

  • After upgrading to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.5 the LVM resource groups in pcs cluster were not starting up with following errors.
* LVM_resource_lvm_start_0 on node1 'unknown error' (1): call=115, status=complete, exitreason='Volume group [<vg-name>] does not exist or contains error!   Volume group "<vg-name>" not found',

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.5 with High Availability and/or Resilient Storage add-on
  • pacemaker
  • Kernel version kernel-3.10.0-693.21.1.el7.x86_64
  • EMC PowerPath storage with driver version EMCpower.LINUX-6.1.0.00.00-091.el7.x86_64 or possibly earlier version(s)
