How to get a core dump with Red Hat Directory Server 8 on RHEL 5?
Issue
In some situations, when some analysis is needed, we need to make sure the ns-slapd process from Red Hat Directory Server (RHDS) version 8 running on RHEL 5 will dump a core file.
Although there are several solutions and articles about system configuration to enable core dump generation on RHEL (for example How to enable core file dumps when an application crashes or segmentation faults), here we will show an example for RHDS specifically.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5
- Red Hat Directory Server (RHDS) 8, for example
