The last command outputs the future time for system boot time and a negative number for the elapsed time from the system boot.
Issue
- The
lastcommand outputs the future time for system boot time as below.
# date
Wed Apr 4 06:59:03 EDT 2018
# last | grep -i reboot
reboot system boot 3.10.0-693.21.1. Mon Apr 23 07:59 - 07:01 (-19+00:-57)
- In this example,
Apr 23 07:59was recorded. But, the current date was stillApr 4 06:59:03. Also, the elapsed time was a negative time like-19+00:-57. - Why was the future time recorded?
