Unable to restart/reload firewalld on system with Intel Omnipath or Mellanox Infiniband driver

Issue

Restarting firewalld hangs. Once hung, the only way to bring firewalld back is to reboot the system.
rmmod nf_conntrack causes 100% CPU usage
dmesg shows messages similar to the following:

[889005.667785] nf_nat: Unknown symbol nf_ct_invert_tuplepr (err -2)
[889005.667803] nf_nat: Unknown symbol nf_ct_seqadj_set (err -2)

Environment

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
Infiniband hardware (either Mellanox or IBM's Omnipath)
