Systemctl asks for LUKS passphrase when the device has already been decrypted.

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

  • systemd prompts for a passphrase for (an already open) device if the crypttab/fstab listing(s) do not match the existing mapping on the system.

  • The system will print out the following message at inappropriate times

Password entry required for 'Please enter passphrase for disk Virtual_disk (luks-xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx) on <device-name>!' (PID XXXXXXX).
Please enter the password with the systemd-tty-ask-password-agent tool!
