Ceph - In RGW multi-site Replication what is the difference between "endpoints", and "hostnames"settings

Issue

  • After reading the 'Ceph Object Gateway Guide' when it comes to 'Set a Zone Group', I don't understand the differences between 'endpoints' and 'hostnames' and how to use them?
  • Wouldn't it be best to set the endpoint as rgw dns name = {hostname} in /etc/ceph/ceph.conf ?
