RHEV: Hosts in a cluster become Non-Operational after an addition of a new Storage Domain

Solution Verified - Updated -

Environment

Red Hat Enterprise  Virtualization (RHEV) v2.2

Issue

All hosts but SPM, will become non-oprational after an addition of a new Storage Domain to a cluster that has been configured in a Fiber Channel Data Center.

Resolution

Restart the vdsmd service an all the non-operational hosts. This will cause vdsm to refresh the LVM filter.

Root Cause

This issue occurs because LVM filter has not been  updated, it causes the VG list not to be updated with the newly added  VG.

Diagnostic Steps

View the vdsm.log on the non-operational  host.

The refresh thread strats with:

"Run and protect: refreshStoragePool..."

and results in:

Thread-339790::ERROR::2010-06-08 09:18:22,940::misc::58::irs::Storage domain does not exist: ('b968adec-a8de-434c-b6b1-bef63d96cf66',)
