Issue

  • During upgrade on Red Hat Ceph Storage OSDs are taking extended time to boot.
  • During upgrade from Red Hat Ceph Storage 1.3.z/2.y to 2.5/3.0 OSDs are taking extended time to boot.
  • In a large RGW cluster during upgrade from Red Hat Ceph Storage 2.4 to 2.5 OSDs are taking extended time to boot and causes peer OSDs to flap.

Environment

Large RGW clusters having millions of objects
OSD's OMAP size 5G and above

Upgrade from:
- Red Hat Ceph Storage 1.3.z - 0.94.9-9.el7cp or less
- Red Hat Ceph Storage 2.y - 10.2.7-48.el7cp or less

Upgrade to:
- Red Hat Ceph Storage 2.5 - 10.2.10-16.el7cp
- Red Hat Ceph Storage 3.0 - 12.2.1-40.el7cp

Fixed versions:
- Red Hat Ceph Storage 2.5.1 - 10.2.10-17.el7cp
- Red Hat Ceph Storage 3.0.1 - 12.2.1-45.el7cp
