Virt-who on RHV fails with error: exception: WrongHost: Peer certificate commonName does not match host, expected <10.20.30.40>, got rhvhost.example.com

Issue

Virt-who running on Red Hat Virtualization (RHV) 4.1 fails with error message like this:

2018-03-21 20:38:10,812 [ERROR] @virt.py:389 - Thread 'rhvh.example.com' fails with exception:
WrongHost: Peer certificate commonName does not match host, expected 10.20.30.40, got rhvh.example.com

As a result, if virt-who manages to send Red Hat Satellite any host-guest mapping from this RHV host, it will send no guests.

Environment

  • Red Hat Virtualization (RHV) 4.1
  • virt-who-0.19-8.el7_4 running on RHV Host
  • virt-who reporting to Red Hat Satellite 6.x
