When installing a Guest OS on a RHEL 5.8+ Host, at the end of the install the Guest OS will not reboot.

Issue

  • The Guest OS installs fine but at the end of the install at time of reboot, the system Guest OS goes down but does not come back up. The guest must be manually started using the Run button in the Virtual Machine Manager.

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.8
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.9
  • KVM
