CTDB needs reconfiguring nodes-ips

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

Currently CTDB is configured with only 2 nodes. These 2 nodes have each a public address (192.168...) and a private address which is used for gluster-replication. In the CTDB config files, the nodes specified are the public addresses.

  • I need to add 2 other nodes. Wouldn't it be better to use the private addresses?

  • If so, how do I migrate the config of the "old" servers to use these private addressing too? Can I just change the ctdb "nodes"-file and switch the public address by the private address?

  • How does accessing the gluster volumes work exactly? If I have my public address on node A, and my gluster volume replicated on node B & C? How does traffic come in and how does it go out? Which interfaces does it use?

Environment

  • Red Hat Gluster Storage 3.3
