LUKS automount for iSCSI based LUN not working at boot time

Issue

  • After setting up /etc/fstab and /etc/crypttab to automatically decrypt and mount a LUKS filesystem at boot time, getting below errors and dropped to the Maintenance mode shell.

    fsck.ext4: no such file or directory while trying to open /dev/mapper/luks-dev
    fsck.ext4: unable  to resolve 'UUID=xxxxxxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx'
    

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
  • LUKS encryption on iSCSI LUNs
