In the latest RHEL kernel, TSC clocksoruce is not available

Issue

  • In the RHEL 7 kernel, it has been observed that "tsc" clocksource is not available.

  • The same issue has also been observed on RT kernels.

Environment

  • RHEL 6.9

    • 2.6.32-696.20.1.el6.x86_64

  • RHEL 7.4

    • 3.10.0-693.el7.x86_64

  • RHEL 7.4 (RT)

    • 3.10.0-693.17.1.rt56.604.el6rt.x86_64

  • Intel® X299 Chipset

  • Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-7980XE CPU @ 2.60GHz
