docker DNS resolution does not work inside the container when /dev/log is recreated

Issue

  • While using docker with the syslog log-driver, DNS resolution inside the containers does not work if the /dev/log is recreated.
  • The issue happens when log driver is set to syslog and when the /dev/log file is recreated.
  • When the /dev/log file is recreated docker continues to run but the DNS resolution inside container does not work.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
  • docker-1.12.6-x
