Bonding balance-alb (mode 6) transmit performance is worse in RHEL 7.4

Issue

  • After updating to a RHEL 7.4 series kernel (3.10.0-693.el7) there is a regression in the transmit performance of a balance-alb mode 6 bond.
  • The bond only appears to only ever use a single slave at a time to transmit traffic.
