Failed to pull image from docker-registry.default.svc with connection refused

Issue

  • I have pushed new images from tar file to my local registry in Openshift
  • I want to use them but the deploy failed with the error:
Failed to pull image "docker-registry.default.svc:5000/xxx/xxx@xxx": rpc error: code = 2 desc = Get https://docker-registry.default.svc:5000/v2/: dial tcp 10.166.100.27:5000: getsockopt: connection refused"
  • Using shortname docker-registry.default.svc fails but ip address or full docker-registry.default.svc.cluster.local works

  • Red Hat Openshift Container Platform
    • 3.7
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 7.4
  • docker-1.12.6-68
