Is sheepdog a supported protocol in Red Hat Enterprise Linux?

Issue

• These packages installed:

qemu-img-0.12.1.2-2.295.el6_3.10.x86_64
sheepdog-0.2.3-2.el6.x86_64

• Following the instructions here:

/usr/share/doc/sheepdog-0.2.3/README

• Create a virtual machine image:
  • Create a 256 GB virtual machine image of Test.

$ qemu-img create sheepdog:Test 256G

• Following message is observed:

# qemu-img create sheepdog:Test 256G
Unknown protocol 'sheepdog:Test'

• sheepdog is found in EPEL but qemu is found in the RHEL channels.
• Doesqemu as shipped by Red Hat supports the sheepdog protocol?
