RHCS 3.0 iSCSI Gateway Request For Modified Kernel
Issue
The release of RHCS 3.0 adds full support for the iSCSI Gateway functionality. This feature adds to Red Hat Ceph Storage the iSCSI standard protocol an interface so that Ceph can provide a highly available iSCSI target of exported RADOS Block Device images as SCSI disks to a client.
A prerequisite for using this feature, documented in the RHCS 3.0 Block Device Guide, states the iSCSI gateway must be running RHEL 7.5 due to required kernel modifications. At the time of this writing, RHEL 7.5 is not yet released and it is scheduled for GA at the end of March, 2018, tentatively. Until its release, users interested in leveraging the RHCS 3.0 iSCSI Gateway will need to request a private modified RHEL 7.4 kernel (3.10.0-693.el7) to support this feature.
Applicable Bugzillas:
Doc request to update requirement of 7.4 private kernel until 7.5 release
CLI install of iSCSI GW provides directory that does not exist during configuration
When installing RHCS 3.0 iSCSI GW with customer kernel must use skipchecks argument
