All multipath devices have different wwids on each cluster node on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
Issue
- We are seeing 2 different "uid's" for the same device on 2 different nodes sharing that device.
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 (RHEL5)
- Issue observed on RHEL5 update 8. It is currently unknown if other updates are affected.
- device-mapper-multipath
- Issue observed on device-mapper-multipath-0.4.7-48.el5_8.1. It is currently unknown if other versions are affected.
- There are no aliases configured in
multipaths {}section of /etc/multipath.conf - Aliases have been customized in the bindings file at /var/lib/multipath/bindings (or at the new location if
bindings_fileis configured in multipath.conf). - There are no multipath files in the initrd file.

SAN storage shared between 2 different servers:
- The wwid is different when read with the scsi_id command for the same device on different servers:
node1# scsi_id -g -s /block/sdamf 360060e80100ae4300530264b000002c3 node2# scsi_id -g -s /block/sdfd 360060e80100ae43000090010a28b02c3- SAN is a Hitachi DF600 model as per /proc/scsi/scsi:
