NFS mount from Linux to Solaris or AIX - readdir() function fails on Solaris or AIX with new patch.

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • RHEL5 NFS server was patched recently to RHEL5.9 or RHEL6 NFS server patched recently to RHEL6.3.
  • Since the upgrade, the NFS client running on a AIX6.1 system has been unable to run a CLibrary function called opendir.
  • Recompiling the opendir source code using the gcc -maix64 opendir.c switches, or rewriting the source code to use the opendir64 functions in the Standard C Library (libc.a), allows it to function with the NFS share.
  • NFS mount from RHEL 6.4 to Solaris 10 shows wrong size in disk utilization
  • After NFS server upgrading, when trying to compile source code from NFS mounted directory served to an AIX 7.1 client, the following error occurs:
Project write-lock acquired.
aprojbuild: NO_SUCH_FILE_OR_DIRECTORY

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.9 acting as an NFS server
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.3 acting as an NFS server
  • Solaris and AIX NFS-clients, running a 32-bit application
