virt-viewer does not release the mouse cursor when the RHEV guest shuts down

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • When the user clicks powers down or reboots a Windows guest running in RHEV, the cursor is not released from virt-viewer. The user is required to wait until the VM fully powers down or they have to press SHIFT + F12.
  • After switching from graphical mode to command-line mode, the mouse cursor is captured by virt-viewer. The cursor should automatically release as it is not needed in a non-graphical environment.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization (RHEV) 3.1
  • Guest: supported Windows guests, RHEL 5 or RHEL 6 guests switching from init 5 to init 3
