Mkdumprd fail with error “The ifcfg-is or ifcfg-xxx which contains DEVICE=is field doesn't exist.” if cluster network is using ipv6

Issue

  • In a cluster environment post upgrade from RHEL 6.5 to RHEL 6.9, the mkdumprd fails while trying to re-build
    initrd-2.6.32-696.el6.x86_64kdump.img with below error message.
No kdump initial ramdisk found.                            [WARNING]
Rebuilding /boot/initrd-2.6.32-642.6.1.el6.x86_64kdump.img
The ifcfg-is or ifcfg-xxx which contains DEVICE=is field doesn't exist.
Failed to run mkdumprd
