Why is validate_certs not Working with Packages?

Issue

  • Need to install packages from our central YUM repository without verifying the SSL certificate. The Ansible task looks like the following (with validate_certs: no):
- name: install latest apple and mango packages
  yum:
    name: "{{ item }}"
    state: latest
    validate_certs: no
  with_items:
    - apple
    - mango

Environment

  • Red Hat Ansible Engine 2.4
