Printers not working in RHEL. Message in error_log reads "/usr/bin/gs: No such file or directory".

Issue

  • Printers that previously worked do not work/

  • The /var/log/cups log file has the following messages:

    [Job 40] /usr/lib/cups/filter/pstoraster: line 55: /usr/bin/gs: No such file or directory
PID 16919 (/usr/lib/cups/filter/pstoraster) stopped with status 127

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • Common Unix Printing System (CUPS)
