RHEL6's BIND does not work with a configuration that worked with RHEL5's BIND

Issue

  • Trying to use a named (BIND) configuration that worked with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5 on RHEL6. named does not start, producing error messages similar to these:
zone *zone*/IN: NS '*somehost.sub.zone*' has no address records (A or AAAA)  
zone *zone*/IN: not loaded due to errors.  
default/*zone*./IN: bad zone

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  • bind-9.7.0-4.P1.el6
