Desktop VM's random reboot in different locations with different RHEV-M versions (2.2 and 3.0)

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Desktop VMs are running Windows XP SP3. The instances experiencing random reboots do not share the same configuration (i.e. VM NIC drivers RH VirtIO vs. rtl8139, hypervisors are in different locations, iSCSI storage servers are in different locations).

  • When a Desktop VM reboots, it will startup on a new hypervisor. Then it will reboot after some unknown amount of time. This process will repeat throughout the day.

  • The hypervisors on all RHEV-M installations have not been overtasked or overloaded.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 3.0 (Two instances)
  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization 2.2 (One instance)
