Issue

During booting, system fails at "Checking root filesystem" with the following error:

fsck: error while loading shared libraries: libblkid.so.1: cannot open shared object file: Input/output error.

Systems then drops to maintenance mode, requesting root login. Once logged in, similar errors result. Running LVM / ext3 under OS.
