After a Live Merge fails, LVM information may not clearly indicate which volumes are actually in use

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • This article is aimed at an audience familiar with the details of volume chain manipulation during a Live Merge (snapshot deletion).

  • In this case, on a block-based storage domain, the lvs command only showed some volumes in the chain to no longer be active or open.

  • However, information from other components indicated that these volumes were still in use.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization (RHEV) 3.6
