Issue

  • mdadm attempts to stop a disk and times out, while the system is being booted.
  • The following is seen in /var/log/messages:

    Jan 01 00:00:00 localhost systemd: Timed out stoppping /dev/md1.
    Jan 01 00:00:00 localhost systemd: Timed out stoppping /sys/devices/virtual/block/md1.
    Jan 01 00:00:00 localhost systemd: Timed out stoppping /dev/md/var.
    Jan 01 00:00:00 localhost systemd: Timed out stoppping /dev/disk/by-uuid/00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000
    Jan 01 00:00:00 localhost systemd: Timed out stoppping /dev/disk/by-id/md-uuid-00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000
    Jan 01 00:00:00 localhost systemd: Timed out stoppping /dev/disk/by-id/md-name-localhost:var.
    
  • mdadm raid does not get degraded.
