How to accept IPv6 RA as default router, but not auto-configure address?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • How to accept IPv6 Router Advertisement as default router, but not auto-configure address via SLAAC?
  • This system receives an RA, we wish for:
    • The system to accept the advertising Router as the default route
    • The system to ignore the Prefix information so that a stateless global address is not automatically configured
    • A static global address with the correct prefix is configured in the interface ifcfg file

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
  • IPv6 with static global IP address
  • Router sending Router Advertisements
