How to expand existing volume in Openshift Container Storage 3.x

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • How to expand existing glusterfs volume in Red Hat Gluster OpenShift Container Storage

    1. Expand OCS gluster volume

    2. Expand OCS gluster-block volume (Requires RHOCS 3.11.6 or greater)

      • Offline Resize(Requires Application downtime)
      • Online Resize
      • For RHOCS 3.11.5 or lower, gluster-block volume needs to be recreated with the new size.

Note: Since gluster-block volume is expanded from heketi, the new size might not get reflected in OpenShift PV and PVC. The reason for this discrepancy between the size displayed on OCS and OCP is due to OCS3 being delivered on OCP3 only and the interfaces with Kubernetes are not being updated in this older OpenShift version.
The feature was provided for cases where the user can not create a new PV/PVC and copy data over but need to expand a block volume w/o Kubernetes/OpenShift support for it.
We do not have plans to integrate this feature with Openshift 3 as OCS and OCP 3 are in the maintenance phase.
