Why does the command 'pvmove' fails with the error 'Insufficient suitable contiguous allocatable extents for logical volume' ?

'pvmove' fails with the following error :
# pvmove -v /dev/sdc1 Wiping cache of LVM-capable devices Finding volume group "vg02" Archiving volume group "vg02" metadata (seqno 8). Creating logical volume pvmove0 Insufficient suitable contiguous allocatable extents for logical volume pvmove0: 125000 more required Unable to allocate temporary LV for pvmove.
