How to filter JARs added to EAR classpath in JBoss EAP 5

Issue

I am looking for a way to control the deployment of jar files inside of our EAR file. Basically want to filter the jar files to control which ones load and which ones should be omitted. Is there a way to do this will a custom deployer or some sort of deployment filter. If I had to write a custom deployer I would obviously have more control but being able to exclude based on jar suffix would work as well.
