How do I burn my ISO that I downloaded from RHN on to a CD / DVD on my Mac (running Mac OS X)?

Issue

Mac OS X has included a iso burning capability since the first Mac OS X release, however like many "Advanced" features on the platform they are not as well documented as the common use case. As such many Mac owners are unfamilure with the procedure to burn an .iso file on a Mac system.

Environment

  • Mac OS X (10.0 -> 10.6)
  • Apple Hardware with a CD / DVD burner (Intel & PPC) (DVD Burners in Macs are called "Superdrives")
  • Correct CD / DVD media (many PPC macs only had DVD-R burning and not DVD+R)
