Why is 'net.ipv4.ip_forward' enabled on boot with disabling it in sysctl in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6

Issue

  • We are disabling net.ipv4.ip_forward on /etc/sysctl.conf on a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 machine.
  • But, we saw it's enabled after system boot.
  • Why was it enabled on boot?
