Why it is not possible to use 'SHA512' hash for rootpw(root password) in Satellite kickstart profile ?

Issue

Root password(rootpw) of the hash is changed back to MD5 hash upon commit on Satellite Kickstart.
On a Satellite 5.3 and 5.4, if in a kickstart profile setting auth --passalgo=sha512 --enableshadow but disable MD5 then change the value of rootpw to SHA512 hash, the hash is changed back to MD5 hash upon commit.
Changing rootpw to SHA512 using Satellite API kickstart.profile.setAdvancedOptions does not work.
