Why Polkit-agent-helper-1 timeout leaves tty echo disabled?

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

  • If one don't provide the password while authenticating through polkit, it does not return the shell back.
  • It should give us the terminal back by giving authentication error.
  • Unless resetting the bash shell using reset command, it will not echo back anything on the terminal.
[suresh@host ~]$ hostnamectl set-hostname suresh
==== AUTHENTICATING FOR org.freedesktop.hostname1.set-static-hostname ===
Authentication is required to set the statically configured local host name, as well as the pretty host name.
Authenticating as: root
