Issue

Attempting to present new LUNs to a system without a reboot
Following the steps in Red Hat's "Online Storage Reconfiguration Guide"

Unable to complete the procedure because /sys/class/fc_transport is not populated with target information:

$ ll /sys/class/fc_transport/
total 0
0 drwxr-xr-x  2 root root 0 Apr  8 16:15 .
0 drwxr-xr-x 32 root root 0 Apr  8 16:15 ..

Because of this storage can only be added by issuing a LIP or rebooting
Storage added via these procedures work fine

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3 or higher
kernel-2.6.18-128 or higher
SAN storage
