User root can log in from ttyS0 despite securetty settings

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • not able to disable root user login when connecting from ttyS0

In order to direct the console to the serial port, I'm using the following commands:

# grubby --args="pci=realloc pcie_aspm=off console=ttyS0" --update-kernel /boot/vmlinuz-3.10.0-229.el7.x86_64

Redirection is working well. However, although ttyS0 is not present in the /etc/securetty file, the user root still can log in on the serial console.
