“Marking TSC unstable due to TSC halts in idle” in dmesg on RHEL 6

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

With a 32bit Xeon processor that does not support the nonstop_tsc feature, the use of C-states greater than C1 can cause TSC clock skew. In this case the kernel will disable the TSC clock in favor of the much slower acpi_pm clock.
