TCP connection establishment fails because of no response to SYN+ACK due to checksum error

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • TCP connection establishment fails because of no response to SYN+ACK due to checksum error
  • The TCP three way handshake is not completed because the final ACK in response to SYN+ACK is not sent
  • Instead the client sends a RST which aborts the connection establishment process

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.5
