Directory Server Returns Error 20 After Attempting to Replace Values of a Multi-Valued Attribute When Replication is Enabled

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Red Hat Directory Server fails to replace multi-valued attributes where one of the new values matches one of the current values of the attribute, but has a different letter case ('FOO' as compared to 'Foo' or 'foo', for example). The problem only occurs when replication is enabled (the server executing the modification is configured as a single master and there is at least one replication agreement). The modification requests are refused by the master server, which returns error code 20 (Type or value exists).

Environment

  • Red Hat Directory Server 8
  • Red Hat Directory Server 9
