Kdump service fails to start due to a missing kernel module

  • Is there any way to exclude or blacklist certain third party kernel modules during the generation of the kdump initrd image ?

  • The kdump service fails to start during boot time and displays the following error:

    No module <module-name> found for kernel <kernel version>, aborting.
    kdump: mkdumprd: failed to make kdump initrd
    
  • Starting the kdump service fails with error "No module dsa_filter found for kernel <version>, aborting."

    # service kdump status
    Kdump is operational
    
    # service kdump restart
    Stopping kdump:                                            [  OK  ]
    Detected change(s) the following file(s):
    
      /etc/kdump.conf
    Rebuilding /boot/initrd-<kernel-version>kdump.img
    No module dsa_filter found for kernel <kernel-version>, aborting.
