Commands and modules not found when starting Satellite services

Issue

  • errors when trying to bring the satellite server online:

    # rhn-satellite start 
    Starting rhn-satellite... 
    Starting Jabber services                                   [  OK  ] 
    /etc/init.d/oracle: line 41: sqlplus: command not found 
    /etc/init.d/oracle: line 42: [: 10: unary operator expected 
    Starting Oracle Net Listener ...                           [  OK  ] 
    Starting Oracle DB instance "rhnsat" ...                   [  OK  ] 
    Starting osa-dispatcher: Unable to load module osa_dispatcher 
    No module named server 
                                                               [FAILED] 
    Starting tomcat5:                                          [  OK  ] 
    Starting httpd:                                            [FAILED] 
    Starting rhn-search... 
    Starting cobbler daemon:                                   [  OK  ] 
    Done. 
    
  • also get errors when doing a satellite-sync:

    # satellite-sync  
    Unable to find synchronization tools. 
    Error: No module named server
